VaccinationsWe require the following vaccinations, and a current negative Coggins test. Please give your horse adequate time between vaccinations and travel to let them adjust as comfortably as possible! We advise at least 7 days (preferably 14 days). With the sensitive temperature-control nature and handling requirements of vaccinations, self-administered vaccinations are not accepted here. Proof must be provided by your veterinarian. All horses must be vaccinated with: Eastern & Western Encephalitis (EEE) Tetanus Rabies West Nile Rhino Flu Strangles (or a clean PCR nasal swab test. If your horse has had strangles within the past 3 months, we require a guttural wash culture test) Recent Coggins test (within the past 90 days) Horses that do not have these will not be allowed to use the indoor stalls. This is for the safety of all of the horses at Horse Haven Ranch.

StranglesStrangles is a highly contagious disease of the equine upper respiratory tract caused by the bacterium Streptococcus equi subspecies equi (S. equi). The bacteria cross mucous membranes in the nose and mouth to infect lymph nodes where they cause abscesses that can eventually rupture. It is highly contagious, and the infection can be spread by horse-to-horse contact or by humans, tack, drinking troughs and other environmental factors. It does have a lethality rate of around 40% of horses with complications. There are many articles around the strangles vaccine and whether it's important (and safe) to give it to your horse. We advise that you speak to your vet and work with them to decide what is best for you and your horse with all vaccines. If you do not feel comfortable vaccinating your horse for strangles (or your horse has had strangles in the past), we will also accept a recent, clean, PCR Test. This is a nasal swab test. We do not require the gutteral wash test UNLESS your horse recovered from strangles in the past 3 months, or if the PCR test results are positive (even if it's a false positive). Strangles can be asymptomatic; if you don't test your horse for it first and they're carrying it when you vaccinate them - it can be lethal. Many horses have very strong antibodies and do not need the vaccine. If you want to vaccinate your horse, we recommend running a PCR and culture test to see if they're carrying it as well as the antibody test. Dr. Cayla Moore is who we recommend for this. Click here to connect to her! We require a PCR test from unvaccinated horses each time you board with us! At Horse Haven Ranch we have to consider the variables of our facility and the environment and safety for all of our equine boarders. Most of our boarders are not long-term and as-such we have a high turnover of horses in and out of the ranch. They come from all over the country and from many different venues. This greatly increases the chances that horses will come into contact with strangles (many barns last year had outbreaks). If you have been somewhere where Strangles was present in other horses - please let us know so we can help others as well. This step can help to save an equine life - you never know - it may be your horse's life!

Trail Rides - Areas to RideThere are trails you can reach from our property but it does require riding through the neighborhood for a couple blocks. The trail takes you under the Snow Canyon Parkway underpass where you can reach many trails! If you don't mind trailering there are roughly 52 trails throughout St. George! Go to AllTrails.com, select the filter for 'horseback riding' and search the area (84770) - so many to choose from!

Are you hiring?Horse Haven Ranch is a privately-owned facility where the owners are the caretakers. We appreciate the enormous amount of interest and have just begun opening and running. Currently, we are not needing help, however, that does not mean we won't be in the future! We know there are many passionate about the horse world and being part of it. If you would like to be on a list of those we reach out to for help, please send us an e-mail! We are looking for professional contacts working in the industry with which we can refer others (lessons, camps, chiropractors, etc). Reach out to us if you are one so we can get your info!

Indoor Stall Amenities1. World-class Stable Comfort floors providing pasture softness that alleviate back pain, leg pain, and hock soreness 2. Non-allergenic flax bedding that provides the best of respiratory health for your horse (most of our horses don't use shavings since they have their runs - this keeps the facility even cleaner and healthier!) 3. Ground feeders for optimal feeding position without the possibility of ingesting sand - cleaned between each horse for sanitary purposes 4. Individualized water buckets kept clean (including between horses) and monitored for water usage. 5. Daily turnouts to help with movement and mental release 6. Large attached runs - we don't believe in penning horses in (unless it's a health-related or weather-related issue) 7. On-site caretaker obsessed with cleanliness and health (we live here!) 8. Secured property (locked gates - only people allowed on the property are the ones we know about!) 9. Multi-day cleaning (a clean barn is a happy barn - especially during fly season!) 10. Stalls that can fully enclose during bad weather (no more leaving your horse out in the wind, the rain, or the fireworks!) 11. Skilled stablehand with multiple years with various horses and disciplines who LOVES what she does! 12. Climate controlled environment with fans, misters, and a swamp cooler in the summer - and a radiant heater in the winter. 13. Do you include feed (hay)?Every horse has different requirements for food and supplements. It's best for their health to keep them on their regimen. Even hay and alfalfa varies greatly based on who supplies it, what cutting it is, how it's stored - and more. While we insist on keeping your horse on what they're used to, we do have hay available and we have specific suppliers we use and regularly test their supply. We can even chop your horse's hay if they're elderly and need assistance chewing or soak their hay if they prefer it that way!

Long-term boardingWe have long-term boarding (longer than a month) but it's on a case-by-case basis. Horse Haven Ranch is designed to help horses recover, relax and heal with the best amenities available. The barn is prioritized for these cases. Whether a horse is lame and needs a month-long stay on our orthopedic floors, or is elderly and needs a lot of attention and quiet - our main six stalls are reserved for these cases. They are also utilized for travelers who need special rest for their four-legged friends. For the luxury indoor stalls we charge $750 / month (approx. $25/Night). Please note that the cost does not include providing feed.

What if I wanted to board a month with you?Our facility is unique. We strive to provide the best amenities to as many as we can, but we are limited on space. We have six available stalls to rent overnight and having long-term boarders lessens the space to help others. Short-term options are available for horses recovering from a myriad of issues, but they must be up-to-date on all of our required vaccinations (including strangles - or a clear PCR Strangles Culture from the vet) and must adhere to our behavioral requirements (please see our policies). If you are needing longer than a couple nights, please contact us directly to discuss your situation.

What happens if we can't pick our horse up on time?We understand that life brings unexpected things. If you cannot pick them up in time, please let us know ASAP so we can make arrangements. Please understand that other people may have reservations for your stall. If this is the case, your horse may be moved to the roundpen, or one of the turnouts if our facility is full. If we have room inside the Healing and Wellness Center and you're not able to pick them up the same day, they will be moved there, and you will be charged the nightly rate ($75) for them to stay. Our center is completely disinfected between each horse's use and this covers the labor and work to re-clean and disinfect it for their stay. If all of the stalls are full and a turnout has to be used, you will be charged the nightly rate for the turnout ($100).

Renting the TurnoutsThe purpose of the turnouts is to provide as much room and movement for horses as possible throughout the day. Rather than staying in a stall, we utilize these to help all of our boarded horses have mental relaxation and release throughout the day. They are a vital component to our facility especially with our limited space and are the playground for everyone boarded at Horse Haven Ranch. They are in use throughout the day but are available to rent for overnight use ($100 / night). We have two turnouts available.
